Yiannis Proestos is a computational support scientist and managing coordinator leading the Modelling and Data Analysis Tools group of the Environmental Predictions Department at CyI's Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C). He specializes in leveraging high-performance computing resources and applications for atmospheric and climate science modelling, with a focus on assessing the impact of climate change on human health, including weather extremes and vector-borne diseases. His research also encompasses numerical weather and air-quality prediction on both global and regional scales, utilizing numerical atmospheric models such as WRF-ARW/WRF-Chem and EMAC atmospheric chemistry general circulation model. He possesses expertise in processing and analyzing large climate datasets and geo-spatial scientific visualization. He holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from The Ohio State University, USA (2007).
