Description

GRAMIC is an interdisciplinary cultural heritage project dedicated to the documentation, digitisation, study, and preservation of Cyprus’s traditional grain-grinding mills, including watermills, windmills, and animal-driven mills dating from the 16th to the 20th century. Combining archaeology, architectural history, digital technologies, geospatial documentation, and 3D modelling, the project creates a comprehensive digital record of an important but often overlooked component of Cyprus’s rural heritage. Through the systematic recording and promotion of these historic structures, including emblematic monuments such as the Koutrafas Watermill, GRAMIC contributes to cultural heritage preservation, public awareness, future restoration efforts, and the safeguarding of traditional knowledge and historical landscapes for future generations.
