MoBile Robotic PlAtforms for ACtive InspeCtion and Harvesting in AgricUltural AreaS

The EU-funded BACCHUS project proposes a smart robotic system utilising autonomous mobile platforms with dual manipulators for active inspection and selective harvesting of high value crops, replacing farmer work. The new system will be tested in a vineyard environment monitoring the state of different types of vines and harvesting grapes of different varieties in a human-like manner.

EuroGEO Showcases: Applications Powered by Europe

Europe’s contribution to the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) will receive a big boost from the e-shape project. It is the largest coordinated effort to highlight operational services in the field of Earth observation research in Europe. The project aims to improve user uptake of Earth Observation data in the region. It will develop operational EO services and demonstrate the benefits of the EO pilots at national and international scale, across vertical markets.

Monitoring of Environmental Practices for Sustainable Agriculture Supported by Earth Observation

With farmland covering 50 % of EU territory, sustainable agriculture is a key objective to ensure natural resources remain available in the future. The EU-funded ENVISION project will design a toolbox to monitor service of sustainable agricultural practices all year round. It will use in situ, open data and historical information as well as data made available by the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) and Copernicus.

Structured Approaches for Forest fire Emergencies in Resilient Societies

Changing climate is increasing the risk of wildfires. As temperatures continue to soar in the future, scientists warn that extreme fires will become more common. Meaningful early warning forecasts, early identification and tracking as well as effective response are of paramount importance to save lives and contain environmental damage. The EU-funded SAFERS project will develop a complex emergency management system capable of acting along the whole emergency management cycle.
