MIGRATE is an interdisciplinary archaeological research project that investigates the earliest human dispersals and settlement of Cyprus during the Late Pleistocene. Combining advanced geoinformatics, stochastic spatial modelling, Earth Observation technologies, archaeological survey, and underwater exploration, the project seeks to understand how prehistoric hunter-gatherer populations adapted to island environments and migrated from the Eastern Mediterranean mainland to Cyprus. By generating new archaeological and environmental data, MIGRATE aims to shed light on the timing, routes, demographic dynamics, and climatic factors associated with the initial colonisation of the island, while establishing new research directions in Cypriot archaeology and contributing to the preservation, interpretation, and sustainable management of cultural heritage resources.
