Description

SATCULT is a European project that promotes the use of Earth Observation and satellite technologies for the protection, monitoring, and preservation of cultural heritage. By bringing together expertise from the fields of cultural heritage and geospatial technologies, the project develops innovative vocational training programmes, educational resources, and knowledge-sharing tools that enable heritage professionals, geoinformation experts, and decision-makers to better exploit satellite data for heritage protection. Addressing challenges associated with climate change, environmental degradation, and conflict-related damage, SATCULT fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and capacity building while raising awareness of the benefits of Earth Observation technologies in safeguarding Europe’s cultural heritage. Through training activities, good-practice documentation, surveys, and policy recommendations, the project contributes to strengthening skills, innovation, and cooperation between the cultural heritage and geospatial communities.
