Description

REVITALISER is a Horizon Europe Twinning project coordinated by the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence that aims to strengthen scientific excellence and innovation in the protection of archaeological sites from illegal excavations and looting activities. The project combines Earth Observation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, criminology, and cultural property protection expertise to develop advanced methods and tools for monitoring vulnerable archaeological landscapes across the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa (EMMENA) region. Through collaboration with leading European research institutions, REVITALISER enhances ERATOSTHENES CoE’s research capacity, promotes knowledge transfer and training, and supports the development of innovative technological and policy solutions for safeguarding cultural heritage. By integrating geospatial technologies with heritage protection strategies, the project contributes to the prevention of cultural property crime and the preservation of archaeological resources for future generations.
