Description

INVESTWATER is a PRIMA-funded Horizon Europe project coordinated by the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence that addresses the growing challenge of water scarcity and climate change across the Mediterranean region. The project develops and evaluates innovative Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for sustainable water management, combining Earth Observation, satellite data, environmental monitoring, physical modelling, climate scenarios, and advanced decision-support systems. Through pilot implementations in Mediterranean regions and a strong participatory approach involving public authorities, researchers, businesses, and local communities, INVESTWATER aims to improve water resilience, support groundwater recharge, mitigate drought and water stress, and contribute to the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive. The project will also establish a digital data hub integrating environmental, socio-economic, and regulatory information to support evidence-based water governance and climate adaptation strategies.
